ANNUAL ACTIVE AGING WEEK

 ACTIVE AGING WEEK 

Monday, September 30 - Sunday, October 6, 2024

Older adults "Get Back in The Game!" -- reclaiming their lives after the loneliness and social isolation of COVID -- is the theme of this year’s annual ACTIVE AGING WEEK hosted by Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc. (AFCBI). 

ACTIVE AGING WEEK begins Monday, September 30 and runs through Sunday, October 6. The week-long series of indoor and outdoor activities celebrates the positivity of aging today and encourages an active lifestyle and healthy aging strategies for adults 62 and over. This year, Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc. is collaborating with NYAM (New York Academy of Medicine) in bringing ACTIVE AGING WEEK to our community.

During the week, there will be a variety of activities exploring the seven dimensions of wellness: social, emotional, environmental, intellectual, physical, vocational, and spiritual. 

ACTIVE AGING WEEK is the signature fall event for Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc. and launches our annual renewal/membership drive and signals the start of our program lineup for 2024-2025.

ACTIVE AGING WEEK is presented by Humana and organized by the International Council on Active Aging®, the association that has been leading, connecting and defining the active aging industry since 2001. Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc. has been a member since 2017.

~ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS~

 Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc (AFCBI) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community-based organization led by a volunteer group of older adults that builds upon the rich experience of adults age 62 and older to ensure they can age in place. Through intentional outreach, we leverage local resources to improve the overall quality of life of this growing population. 

NYAM has served NYC for 176 years and has maintained its relevance through its forward thinking service to New Yorkers. NYAM introduced the Age Friendly initiative to NYC and has been actively involved from inception.
